What are the benefits of hormone replacement therapy?Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) offers a wide range of benefits for women, particularly during menopause, perimenopause, or in addressing hormonal imbalances. Some of the key benefits include: Symptom Relief: HRT can alleviate common symptoms of hormonal imbalance, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. Improved Energy and Mood: By balancing hormones, HRT can help enhance energy levels, reduce fatigue, and improve overall mood and emotional well-being. Enhanced Libido: HRT can address changes in sexual health and libido, helping to restore intimacy and confidence. Better Sleep Quality: Many women experience improved sleep patterns with hormone balance, leading to more restorative rest. Bone Health Support: HRT has been shown to reduce the risk of osteoporosis by maintaining bone density, which is particularly important as women age. Skin and Hair Improvements: Balanced hormones can promote healthier skin, hair, and overall appearance. Heart Health Protection: Some studies suggest that HRT may help protect against certain cardiovascular risks when started during the appropriate timeframe. Overall Quality of Life: Many women report feeling more like themselves again, with increased vitality and a greater sense of well-being. HRT is tailored to meet your unique needs, ensuring a personalized approach to optimizing your health and supporting your long-term wellness goals.

Why should I consider using bioidentical hormones? As we age, or due to medical conditions such as menopause or having a hysterectomy or thyroid disease, or just normal ageing, our bodies may no longer produce these vital hormones or may not make enough. By supplementing them, we can restore the hormone levels to those of a normal healthy person, improving the way we feel and improving how our body functions.
-
Are hormones safe?Hormones are necessary for health. If the levels decline, our bodies begin to fail in many different ways. As long as hormones are prescribed at the correct dosages, they are safe. As with any medication, taking too much or too little will not produce optimal results.

What is the process of Hormone Replacement Therapy at Mountain Modern Aesthetics & Wellness?Hormone Replacement Therapy is administered on a case-by-case basis after thoroughly assessing each patient’s individual hormonal status. At your initial consultation appointment, Jennifer will review your medical history, symptoms, and perform a lab draw to review your current hormone levels in your blood. Results from your lab work are generally reviewed within 72 hours of the blood draw. All lab work is performed in office at Mountain Modern Aesthetics & Wellness. Based on your lab results and symptoms, a treatment plan will be determined and prescribed accordingly. You will come back in 10-12 weeks to evaluate your progress and ensure your hormone therapy is meeting your needs. After the resolution of initial symptoms, you will come in every 6 months to evaluate your lab work and symptoms. Often therapy will be readjusted after periods of stress or other physical changes, such as weight loss.

What is the standard dose of hormones I will start at?The optimum dose and duration of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is decided according to the severity of a woman’s symptoms, her response to treatment and how the HRT is absorbed and metabolized in her body. Every woman is different so a “one-size-fits-all” approach to HRT is not the best for women. The dose of hormones – estrogen, progesterone and testosterone - can vary between women and often women find that their doses need to change (either increase or decrease) with time. For example, a woman may start on a low dose during the perimenopause and then increase as her own hormones decline with time. Some women need higher doses of estrogen than other women to achieve the same benefits, especially as estrogen can often be absorbed differently through the skin. Absorption can be affected by both modifiable and non-modifiable factors such as gender, age, ethnicity, hydration, skin temperature, metabolism, and site of application
